Spiral Pepperoni Pizza Bake

I have been making this dish for years and everyone loves it...including me!

I also have a low cal version that I make quite often. You can find the recipe for that here. But this dish has tons of cheese and huge thick slices! It fills the pan up to the top and is actually quite heavy to put in and take out of the oven. I also like that it freezes so well. And leftovers...well.. they taste even better the next day!

Spiral Pepperoni Pizza Bake

16 oz. spiral pasta, cooked and drained
2 lb. hamburger
1/2 onion, chopped
2 cans {15 oz.} pizza sauce
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning
2 eggs
2 c.milk
1/2 c. shredded Parmesan cheese
4 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
1 {3 1/2 oz}. sliced pepperoni

Cook the beef and onion, add seasonings. Stir in pizza sauce. In a small bowl combine the eggs, milk and Parmesan cheese. Toss with pasta. Put in a greased 3 qt. baking dish. Top with meat mixture, then mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. Cover and bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Serves 12.

I love the flavors of pizza in any form--this sounds great with the pasta. Pizza and pasta in one dish?! Yes please!!
Hope all is well. The weather finally seems to be warming up a bit huh? I hope MN gives us a nice summer! I think we deserve it after the brutal winter.

I made thisw tonight and it is good. My problem is why two eggs and two cups of milk? It did get absorbed though. The other part is the sauce didn't reach the noodles and the sauce was thick. I will try to mix the noodles next time with the sauce.

Annonymous, You had the recipe right. The sauce stays on the top. The noodles are coated with the parmesean, milk and egg mixture and bake up almost like a home made "mac and cheese" that is under the sauce!

Thanks for replying laurie. I will have to and more cheese to the noodle layer because I didn't taste the cheese on the noodle layer. Naybe Parmesan and maybe another cheese like fontina or something like it. This is really a good recipe in all.I'm glad I found you're blog.
