Wheat Bread

 The leaves are already changing colors here and the rakes will need to be dusted off soon. So many fall chores to do...but baking bread isn't a chore! I love to bake bread, especially in the fall when the weather turns colder. It's so comforting to come inside and have a slice of warm fresh bread waiting for you.

Lately I've been into making wheat bread. I found this recipe on Allrecipes. It's very soft and moist, and the texture is perfect. I added a bit more honey for extra sweetness. We like to spread some butter and homemade strawberry jam on top...delicious!

Wheat Bread
{all recipes}

2 c. warm water
2 c. whole wheat flour
1 Tbsp. active dry yeast
1 tsp. salt
1/3 c. honey
1/3 c. vegetable oil
5 c. all purpose flour

Dissolve the yeast in the warm water. Add the oil and honey. Stir in the salt and wheat flour. Add the rest of the flour gradually. Knead dough until smooth and elastic, about 10 to 15 minutes. Put in an oiled bowl and spread some oil on top of the bread,too. Cover and let rise until double in bulk. Punch dough down and shape into 2 loaves. Put in greased bread pans and let rise until 1 1/2 in. above the pans. Bake at 375 for 25 to 30 minutes.

Wow! What nice loaves of bread. I love the simple recipe. Wonder if it would turn out like that for me? I'll give it a try now that the weather is cooler.

That looks simply delicious, and I know it is. I've made a lot of wheat bread. I don't eat it now because of a gluten sensitivity, but there's nothing that tastes better! And I loved baking it in the cold months. :-)

That does sound good! My dad is the bread baker in our family. But I could try this one.
