EZ Sugar Cookies

Ok, I admit it.  I was lazy this year and didn't make my roll out sugar cookies.

GASP!

I am famous at school for my roll outs. I get requests every holiday for them.

BUT since we moved, and I don't work there anymore...and am too far to drop by with some...I took the year off.

I decided to make these instead.

EZ sugar cookies! No rolling or decorating.

I got the recipe from an old high school friend, her mom made the best cookies, and always had some type of cookies in her cookie jar. These were one of my favorites.

They are also known as Worlds Best Sugar Cookies. There are probably other names for them too, as this recipe had been passed around alot.

There's alot of sugar and butter and oil in them, so they are very rich and buttery. The cream of tartar an powdered sugar give a really nice texture to them, too. I used colored sugar this time to make them more festive for Christmas, but they are very pretty just with white sugar too.

I'm wondering if any of my family will notice no roll outs this year....or if I'll be in trouble for skipping them....here's hoping these will pacify them!

EZ Sugar Cookies

Cream together:
1 c. powdered sugar
1 c. sugar
1 c. soft butter

Add:
1 c. Crisco oil
2 beaten eggs
2 tsp. vanilla

Stir in:
4 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt

Roll into small balls, press with a potato masher dipped in sugar. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.

What are the square things on the cookies? I don't see anything in the recipe that would explain them and want to add. :)

I used a potato masher to push them down, that's the square things you see on the cookies!
