New Local Show on Food Network, Heartland Table

Amy Thielen

On Saturday I watched a new cooking show on Food Network called Heartland Table

What's so special about that?

Well, the show is filmed near Park Rapids, by Amy Thielen who was born and raised here. I was looking forward to her first episode all week, and it did not disappoint!

It was fun to see the familiar scenery, hear her talk about her family and friends, and watch her cook familiar dishes. I especially enjoyed the segment on Blueberry Pie. Her Grandma taught her how to make pie, and it reminded me of my mom teaching me. I pinned the recipe here.

She has a new cookbook coming out called, The New Midwestern Table. I read about it at the Plains Art Museum website."Thielen heralds a fresh take on heartland cooking, modernizing and refining the Midwestern dishes that she grew up with while also unearthing local gems from across the region."  It's on my Christmas wish list.

I'm looking forward to the next episode!

If you want to check her out, here is the link to her website, Sourtooth.

I love the show and plan to buy the book as well. I have learned many tips. I am impressed she won the James Beard award, he is my favorite American chef. The show is educational, fun and I am a huge fan!

Amy seems like my kind of woman: knowledgeable, creative, fun and down to earth. I love her recipes and lifestyle. What a great show. I'm an avid fan and wish Heartland Table were on more often.
