When I'm in the mood for meatloaf, I usually make my moms recipe. But I decided to give Paula's a try and we are both happy I did. YUM!
It was so moist and flavorful, and the topping put this meatloaf recipe OVER the top. I took Paula's advice and the next day I slathered some mayo on white bread and cut me a big ole slab of meatloaf to put inside.
It was a wonderful lunch!

Paula's Meat Loaf
Paula Deen
1 lb. burger
1 egg
1/2 c. quick cooking oats
1/2 c. chopped onion
1/2 c. chopped green pepper
1/4 salt
1/4 pepper
8 oz. diced tomatoes, no juice
Mix and put in a loaf pan. Add topping and bake at 375 for 1 hour.
Topping:
1/3 c. ketchup
1 Tbsp. mustard
I have never been disappointed with Paula's recipes!! This meatloaf looks fantastic! Yummy

ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous meatloaf! Just want to slice it and eat it for dinner! I love making meatloaf, since it's relatively little work - just mix it, shape it and take it out of the oven in an hour - and yummy dinner is ready!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE a good meatloaf! Although I dont have a real recipe, I just kind of throw mine together... I put a little brown sugar on mine too... I am going to try this recipe.

ReplyDeleteI am making it for dinner again tonight! Shhhh! Don’t tell anyone but I like it better than my Mamma’s. Every time I make it I have to hide it from my hubby so he doesn’t see me adding mustard . He loves this recipe but has no idea it contains the one thing he hates the most!
ReplyDeleteDelicious recipe. My mother's except for the oats. Try a good fresh tomato on your meatloaf sandwich. Of course u must have Dukes Mayo spread on the bread.
ReplyDeleteMy mom's recipe is exactly the same recipe except for every pound of hamburger she puts a half a pound of sausage that makes it taste so yummy try it and let me know how you like it

I spent 2hrs. yesterday, searching for the recipe among my personal recipes, for Cottage Meatloaf, with no luck. I’ve not used any other recipe! This is it, except I used grated fresh breadcrumbs & V-8, in place of diced tomatoes & oatmeal. It’s so moist & flavorful. I usually add potatoes, to bake with it & add a salad. HINT: I usually double the meatloaf & slide the loaf pan in a bread bag, to freeze.

ReplyDeleteThis recipe is delicious. I’m not a meatloaf fan but my husband and mother like meatloaf and They especially Love this recipe! I love it as well! The topping is packed with flavor.
