These little pies were so much fun to make.. so EASY...and so delicious. They went together in minutes and before long... we had fresh hot apple pie for dessert! Start to finish was maybe 20-25 minutes.
I wasn't sure if I should peel the apple or leave the skin on, as the recipe didn't specify. So I left them on...I liked the texture and color it added. Next time I'll try without so I can compare the taste, though. I also wondered if the apple would be hard and uncooked baking such a short time, but they were very soft and tender, the crust crispy and golden.
I served them warm with ice cream....2 little pies a piece was just a perfect size dessert. I made only half a batch as I wasn't sure how they would taste cold or reheated.
I still don't know...... as they were gone in a flash.
But my kitchen smelled great all day.... apples and cinnamon...making me wish I had made the full batch!
Taste of Home
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 pkg. (14.1 oz..} refrigerated pie crust
3 tbsp. melted butter, divided
2 medium tart apples, each cut into 8 wedges
In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon, set aside 1 Tbsp. On a lightly floured surface, unroll the pastry. Brush with 2 Tbsp. melted butter, sprinkle with remaining sugar mixture.
Cut each sheet into 8 one inch strips, about 8 in. long. Wrap one strip around each apple wedge, placing sugared side of pastry against apple.
Place on parchment paper lined baking sheet. Brush tops with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar mixture. bake at 425 for 13-15 minutes or until pastry is golden brown. Serve warm. Makes 16.

Oh, cannot wait to try this. Looks and sounds SO yummy.
Your Bite Size Apple Pies are just right. They look delicious and a great treat. Thanks for sharing and hope you are having a wonderful week!

I can imagine the aroma through your kitchen, pretty awesome for sure. These little pies look terrific and are a must try!
SImple, yet delicious! TFS:)
Mmmm, now I'm hungry! lol
I made these. They were yummy. I think I was not generous enough with the sugar/cinnamon mix as I had some left over. It could have used more. Also my DH suggested next time in addition I dip each apple in the sugar/cinnamon mix. I think I will try that next time. Thanks for sharing.
There is nothing like the smell of apples and cinnamon! I think the anticipation, while things are baking, is at least half the pleasure.

I made these yummy apple pie bites with my nieces yesterday - oh, were they ever fun and easy to do! They tasted great, too :) Thanks!
Instantly hungry. I NEED these!
Yummy....an easy to have "apple dumplings"...
I have never heard of refrigerated pie crust - does it come in a roll? Or is it like frozen pie shells in a round?
I used Pillsburry refrigerated pie crust. There are 2 crusts in each box, and yes it comes rolled. Hope you can find some!
Yum! I'm pretty sure I would eat the whole batch if I made them - they sound so good!
Found you via pinterest -- yum! I'm planning to buy a huge amount of apples at this weekend's farmer's market so will definitely be making this soon!
I found you through Pinterest and I cannot wait to try this! Look so easy and delicious! :)
Made them tonight. Easy and delicious!
Saw these on Pinterest! Making them tonight!
New follower here!
Made these and they are sooo good! They tasted even better reheated to me.
I'm going to bake these for my coworkers this week and I'm wondering if I could use crescent rolls for the dough? I'm so hesitant to mess with the so simple recipe because it looks so amazing!
These turned out so well! I just posted this recipe on my blog and included a link back to you. Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe!

Made these last night with my Pioneer Girls group at church. My 7th grade girls followed the recipe themselves. We added cool whip and caramel topping. Great recipe!
would it be ok if i used crescent rolls? i want to make these but i dont have pie crust... they look amazingggg
thank you :)
I made these for a home party last night. They were a HIT! People are more likely to take these, as opposed to cutting a slice of pie. Also, my family is thrilled I doubled the recipe, because there are a few left!
I am trying it with homemade pie crust dough, since I was too lazy to go to the store lol.
I made these with the crescent rolls - one roll with too apple slices was good, but the apple pieces slid on each other. Next time, I'll cut the dough in half and use one apple slice. Turned out yummy with the reduced fat crescent roll dough.
Just made the apple pie bites and they are delicious! Quick and easy too!! Taking to a classroom Fall Party and serving with a vanilla ice cream cup. Love it!!
This is so awesome!!
The stores all have the crusts on sale for the holidays so I have been loading up the freezer so I can make these all winter!
these look scrumptious I'd love you to add this to my link party over at http://raegunwear.blogspot.com
These were absolutely delicious! Even better reheated the next day. And so easy compared to making apple pie.
I found these on Pinterest! I just made them! Awesome! Thanks for sharing the recipe!
Me too I found you on Pinterest! I made some changes: I dip the apple pieces into lemon juice, then into the cinnamon-sugar mixture, then rolled up into the crust. They were de li cious! Irene
These are perfect for all the "little fingers" in my house! I'll be making them with crescent rolls... as that is all i've got right now! YUM!
Thanks for sharing, like many others I found you on Pinterest! Would it be better to bake the day before and refrigerate them, or prepare them and then bake the next day? I'm going to try these for Christmas dessert, so excited! :D
Cant wait to try these. Thank you for sharing. I'm a Northern Minnesota girl as well......I look forward to following you and enjoying your recipes. Happy New Year!
Just found this on pinterest!! Love it. But please share: What kind of apples is everyone using??? I'm going to make these for bookclub night and baked them while everyone is here, Oh Boy can't wait!! Thanks
These were sooooooooo delicious! They were gone as soon as I made them this afternoon! I used red delicious apples. I sprinkled sugar and cinammon mixture on apples as well as pizza crust. YUM-O
I found this on pinterest too. Made it with Braeburn apples, it was delicious!
These sound yummy...but I think when I make them I will also have some warm carmel on hand and drizzel it across the top ;-)
Iam going to try this receipe but i think i will cook the apples in a sugar and cinamon liquid first then bake with the pastry
Ok I need help! I am an awful baker and continuing to uphold the title trying this recipe! I followed the recipe exactly and my oven was full of smoke. The apples were fine but I had to open my doors and windows to air out the house... What went wrong?
Saw this on Pinterest - they look scrumptious and sound easy.
Super easy and delicious!
I just LOVE your blog and this is a great idea! Totally going to try it out. I'm a novice blogger and I just love your site!
My mouth is actually watering coping the recipe~ I am fixing them today~ thank you for sharing <3 <3
Amazing! I love apple pie but never make it because so much would go to waste. Made mine with homemade pie crust using coconut oil instead of shortening and granny smith apples. Also cut my apples a little thicker - my favorite part of apple pie is the apple. Many compliments from everyone who has eaten it!
This is such a cute idea! We did a whole lesson in our Little Hands that Cook with Books about the Apple Pie, they loved making it. Here's some ideas for you to go along with these adorable bite size apple pies! http://theeducatorsspinonit.blogspot.com/2011/09/little-hands-that-cook-with-books-apple.html
made these with crescent rolls. They were great !!
Recipe is great but I wish you had a print function on the screen instead of having to hand-copy the recipe. My handwriting is hard to read when it gets cold. LOL
Had these saved on my pinterest and just made them. They came out SO GOOD. As you suggested, I kept the skins on and I'm glad I did - they were nice and crispy vs. the soft apple. Very refreshing.
Making these tonight for the hubby, he loves apple pie. But instead of using pie crust I'm going to use crescent rolls. Will let you know how it turns out.
They are quite yummy. Only thing I would change is make sure I peel the apple because when I take a bite of it the peel is hard to break/tear and so the whole apple slice comes out. Thanks for sharing.
These are easy and OH so good. I left the pealings on my green apples and they were great.
Hi!~
Just wondering is pie crust short pastry? I am assuming it is.
Thanks (from Sydney, Australia) Kx
These look delishious! Could I freeze them once they are baked? I live alone and would like to make a full recipe and just be able to take one or two out of the freezer when I want.
These were fantastic! I used the crecent rolls, but I think the crust is probably better. I did try some peach slices and closed up the pastry on the edges (to lock in the juices) and they were wonderful! THANK YOU!
I found this recipe on Pinterest about a year ago and I LOVE it!! They were very easy to make and really good. Also, I just wanted to add that they ARE really good the next day, either cold or reheated. Thanks for the great recipe that is now one of my favorite dessert recipes!
SO, i chucked to myself when I read the review that said the oven filled with smoke. I stopped chuckling when my smoke detector started to go off. I bake ALL of the time, and this has never happened, but sure enough, oven was filled with smoke and the smoke detector was going off. I opened my doors and everything is now fine...although I haven't yet tried the little pies. Any thoughts as to why this happens?
Folks who had smoke problems-- did you use parchment paper? Think I tried to use wax paper instead of parchment one time and learned my lesson!
I'm having a tea on Sunday and am using this recipe! Thank you so much!
Question:
I have now made these 2 times in a row and I seem to burn the bottoms everytime. I have been using parch. paper. and this time I only left them in for 7 mins. Still very good but would like to not burn the bottoms so I can take them to a party next month. Please help!!
Sounds Great !!!
This is delicious but I used tortillas instead of pie crust...much easier and I loved it!
Hi all I am going to be making these and selling them at a fall fair I want to per bag them any thoughts on them being too gooey? Also would like to bake them on Friday for a Sunday fair. Any suggestions/ thoughts are greatly appreciated! Thanks
What are crescent rolls? What was the texture of the outside, flaky? From Australia, haven't heard of either.
Pam, I think they'd be great for sale a day after you make them. They aren't gooey if you let them cool long enough.
Jill, crescent rolls are pre made puff pastry that come in a tube that you hand roll into a flaky buttery crescent. They are super easy to work with and now I can't wait to try this recipe with them instead of pie crusts! Yum.
Hello! I live in the Uk, not sure if I can get refrigerated pie crust and I'm not handy at making stuff from scratch. Do you have a substitute suggestion?
I am hungry now! x
Used pillsbury pastry sheets. Very good
THESE WERE DELICIOUS AND VERY EASY TO MAKE. THANKS
I used crescent rolls, they turned out good
I love the idea but I do NOT like the idea of prepackaged pie crust. I make mine from scratch, much funner and healthier as I use organic butter not shortening and organic flour. There just is no comparison.
I also used a can of large flaky pillsbury crescent rolls. I cut them in half because my apples were baby sized. Delicious!
Fed them to a pack of hungry stage hands. None left over!!!
I'm making these tomorrow for Xmas morning breakfast.FYI for vegetarians: Pllsbury refridgerated pie crust has lard in it. I bought Immaculate Ready to Bake pie crusts instead. They are right by the Pillsbury ones and minus the lard. Happy Holidays everyone!
Making these tomorrow for a Superbowl party. So excites as they look yummoz
Could you use the Pilsbury crescent rolls as well?
I have never made these with cresent rolls, only pie crust so I am not sure how they would turn out.
I have never had any problem with them burning, those that are, maybe turn the oven down and try baking them at a lower temperature a bit longer.
They keep just like a pie, so yes, they are good the next day. We like to reheat them!
I just made these with crescent rolls and posted about it! They turned out well. Thanks for the inspiration!
http://www.thissimplehome.com/2013/02/bite-size-apple-pie.html
What type of tart apples did you use? These sound greatcand easier than making a whole pie!
im using cresant rolls. thats what i thought they were. and also seen a recipie for easy carmel sauce on a diff pin. thank heavens for pinterest :)
Made these tonight with crescent rolls. My oven was smoking too when I opened the door. They were good, but the bottoms were burned, not sure if any of it had to do with not using parchment paper. Next time, I'm going to reduce the temp, cook longer and use the paper.
just made these tonite, used half apple slices and half nectarine slices, used the pills bury pie crust and cut it into wedges and rolled up like crescents! worked great ans soooo
yummy!!!
Made these tonight with some fresh apples we picked! They tasted just like mini apple pies! We took them out at about 12 minutes since any sugar that touched the parchment paper burned and bubbled and it made me nervous I was burning them!
The apples were a little tough, so next time I'll try an extra few minutes to get them more soft.
Thanks!
Today...after school snack!!! YAY!
Was wondering how these would work in a toaster over. . . Cooking project for my school class and don't have access to a "real" oven.
I wonder if this would work with peaches too??
I used crescent rolls & they were amazing! I used 2 apple slices per roll, but I think it needs maybe 1 more slice when using the rolls.
Has anyone tried to make them then save for the next day? I live alone and don't want to eat them all at once....
I loveeeee these little bites. I think they look pretty on a serving platter too. I've made a version of these but I have to try and make these too.
I recently stumbled upon your blog post featuring the delectable Bite-Size Apple Pies from Taste of Home, and I must say, my taste buds were tantalized just by looking at the mouthwatering pictures and reading your delightful description of these bite-sized treats.
