I've been eyeing this recipe for quite some time now over on Food Network. I've tried several of the Neely's recipes and have always liked them.I enjoy watching their show,too. They always seem to have so much fun in the kitchen. {yes...I'm a Food Network junkie,too}
I wanted to try this because of the pecans and the maple syrup. I've never had apple crisp with those ingredients before.
It's a great recipe for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
I have a bag of apples to use up.
Those were the only reasons I needed to finally make this!
We REALLY liked it.
It was almost a cross between pecan pie and apple crisp. Rich and delicious! I put some whipped cream on Brent's, but ate mine plain. It was awesome.
I might have to make it again though, because now I'm wondering what it would taste like with some ice cream on top!
Apple Crisp
(the Neely's)
Filling:
5 Granny Smith Apples, peeled, cored, and chopped small
1/4 c. finely chopped pecans

1/2 c. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. maple syrup
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
Mix all the ingredients together. Place into 7 greased 8oz.ramekins. (I used a 9" pan)
Topping:
3/4 c. flour
1/3 c. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
6 Tsp. cold butter, cut into cubes
1/4 c. chopped pecans
Mix the flour, sugar, cinnamon, salt in a large bowl. Blend in the butter until mixture forms pea sized crumbs. Stir in nuts. Sprinkle over filling and bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes.

The crisp looks delicious. I'd be happy to have that for any holiday not just Christmas. Happy Thanksgiving.
