I'm a lucky gal!
Look what my daughter gave me for my birthday this spring...
Inside the basket are 3 green jars, filled with recipes to make. I made the the recipe for the soup the very next day. It was hard to open it up, as the layers were so pretty inside the jar. But I forced myself to do it..after all, I needed to try this soup!
It was so fun..... and so easy to make. All I had to do was brown the stew meat, and dump the ingredients in. The whole house smelled great with the rich savory smell of beef and veggies simmering on the stove.
An hour later it was done, so I took a spoonful, to test it out. Winner! It tasted as good as it smelled!
My son gave me this along with a gift certificate, isn't it sweet?
As you can see, I had a great birthday this year!

You can find the soup recipe below, and I'll be posting the other two soon....

1/2 c. uncooked twist macaroni
1 c.uncooked tri color spiral pasta
1/3 c. long grain white rice
1/2 c. dry lentils
1/4 c. barley
Instructions:
In a large kettle brown 1 lb. hamburger or stew beef cut in bite sized pieces in olive oil. Remove the pasta from the jar and reserve. Add the rest of the jar contents to the kettle with 12 cups of water. Bring to a boil and simmer 20 minutes. Add pasta and simmer 15 minutes more. makes 12 servings.
