Baked Apple in a Bag

I saw this in a magazine at the Dr's office. They always have the best magazines to read.

It was so much fun! I just dumped all the ingredients in the bag and 2 minutes later we were eating a warm delicious apple dessert!

I wondered about using a bag in the microwave, but I did check the box and it was FDA approved, so I gave it a try. If you are worried, though, you could always use a glass bowl. I liked the bag as clean up was so fun and easy.

Brent gave this two thumbs up when I asked him if he liked it, and he requested it again the next day!

Baked Apple in a Bag

1 apple, peeled and sliced
1 tsp. sugar ( or to taste)
1/4 tsp. corn starch
1/4 tsp. cinnamon ( I added more)
1 tsp. water
squirt of lemon juice

Put all in a safe Ziploc microwavable bag, leave open about 1 inch to allow steam to escape and microwave on high 2 minutes. Very hot!

  2. What about all the bad things in plastic that come out when heated in a microwave? Is this really safe?

  3. I did some research before I tried it, and I mention in the recipe to use microwave SAFE bags. Here is a link from Good Housekeeping and their research, http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/product-reviews/consumer-protection/plastic-safety-heat-food-6
