Mom made the BEST stuffing! So simple, and so delicious. (It may have something to do with the 2 sticks of butter.}
I loved the smell of the celery and onion sauteing in the butter. The aroma filled the kitchen, and I would go snitch some from the bowl as she stirred it all together.
She would put some of the stuffing inside the turkey, and then the rest in a casserole. She would bake the casserole for about 20-30 minutes, and when the turkey was done she added that stuffing to the casserole and stirred it well before serving.
It made it very moist and tasty!
Moms Stuffing
3/4 c. chopped onion
1 c. chopped celery
1 c. butter
9 c. soft bread cubes
2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. sage
1/2 tsp. pepper
Saute the onion and celery in the butter. Pour over the bread cubes, add the salt, pepper, and sage. Stir altogether. Put in a greased casserole and bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes.

Onion and sage dressing is the only dressing, in my opinion. :-) I love it! I even have made it with gluten-free bread, for when I roast a turkey or chicken, that dressing stuffed inside makes it taste so wonderful!
My mom also made the best stuffing, only she used pure chicken fat, not butter, but chicken fat. I don't think I could bring myself to do that.
Beautiful mummy recipe Laurie!
