Halloween Toffee with Graham Crackers

I haven't made these delicious treats in quite awhile, and there is a good reason for that. I eat the entire batch. Just ask Brent....he has to be quick to get any of these...lol!

I made them all the time when the kids were home. First...we all loved them...second I always had the ingredients on hand, and third...they are just SO quick and easy. I made them with soda crackers, and while I had tried them made with grahams (yum) I never made them that way myself. It was always soda crackers...I like the sweet and salty combo.

But I accidentally bought 2 boxes of grahams and needed to use some up. This recipe came to mind, and I talked myself into making a batch! (that didn't take long..lol)

I lined a cookie sheet with some parchment paper, and then added a layer of grahams. In a sauce pan I added a cup of brown sugar and a cup of butter, brought it to a boil and then simmered it for about 4 minutes. Then I poured it onto the grahams and baked them at 350 for 8 minutes. (The crackers move and bubble up, but don't worry) I took them out of the oven and dumped on about a cup and a half of chocolate chips. It takes a minute or two for them to melt. You can either kind of swirl them with a knife, of you can spread them out smooth.

I always put them in the frig and let them set, them brake them apart into chunks. I also store them in the frig in a Ziploc bag.

Since I was serving them for a party, I added some Halloween candy google eyes and M & M's.

Spooky!

AND SO TASTY!!!!

Whichever cracker you use, you will love them!

Pretzel Ghosts...Pinned it and tried it

Don't these look fun?

Of course I saw them on Pinterest again, so I pinned it tried it, and LOVED it!

They were super easy, just dipping the pretzels in chocolate and adding some candy eyes. I suppose they would look more like ghosts if I had used white chocolate.

But you know me, I LOVE dark chocolate!

Milano Ghosts and Reeses Witch Brooms

Pinned it, tried it, and LOVED it!

Yes, I confess. I have been spending lots of time on Pinterest lately! I like to look at all the fall things people have been posting.

I ran across these "cute as can be"ghosts and witch brooms and had to make a few! They were so easy, and tasty. I didn't think Milano's could get better, but we loved them with the white chocolate. I just dipped half of the cookie and added some black sprinkles for eyes.

The brooms were even easier! I took a toothpick and made a hole in the Reese miniature cup, and stuck the pretzel inside. Who doesn't love a sweet and salty snack? Yum!

These would be fun for kids of course, but also great for Halloween parties. I think I will head back to Pinterest and see what else I can find...LOL!

Have a great day!

Halloween ice cream cone....pinned it and tried it

Pinned it, tried it and LOVED it!

But then what's not to love about Nutter Butters and M & M's?

You just dip one end in some white chocolate and add the sprinkles and M & M's.

So festive and fun!

Soft Almond Sugar Cookies

I've been experimenting baking with things other than butter. Some I like, and some, well, are not that tasty....

But this recipe is a winner!

It's made with canola oil, no butter. They are not greasy at all, like some of the recipes I've tried with oil. These are soft, sweet sugar cookies. I LOVE almond, so I added almond flavoring along with the vanilla. Maybe that's why I can't seem to leave them alone!

They are even better with this great find at Costco today:

I was so happy to find a pack of Starbucks with three different flavors of hot chocolate, and for such a great price.

A cup of the Double Chocolate and a sugar cookie are a perfect fall treat!

Soft Almond Sugar Cookies

2/3 c. oil
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. almond flavoring
3/4 c. sugar
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix the oil and sugar. Add the eggs, and flavoring. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt. Add and mix well. Drop by tsp. onto parchment lined cookie sheets. Flatten slightly and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 400 for 8 to 10 minutes. Let cool a minute on the cookie sheet before removing to racks.

Halloween Pretzel Bites

Tis the season for Halloween...a week from today actually!

One of my friends gave me a few pumpkin kisses along with a Halloween card, so I decided to make a few treats with them. I've made these in the past, but usually for Christmas with the Holiday M &M's and milk chocolate kisses. But I saw these on Pinterest.....where else...I'm on there everyday...and thought they were pretty cute.

Basically, you take a pretzel, place any type of  kiss on it, put them in the oven at 350 until the kiss starts to melt..takes just a few minutes...then take them out and press the candy corn on top. Let them cool, and they are ready to enjoy!

The sweet and salty combo gets you every time....and a handful is gone in a flash!!

Frightful Fingers

Happy Halloween!
I made these frightful looking fingers a couple of years ago and posted them on Stamping Up North and thought I'd share the recipe again on this blog.

They were alot of fun to make AND  fun to serve....the adults liked them just as much as the kids I made them for!

Here's the recipe page I made for my scrapbook:

Chex PB and Chocolate Blast

This was one of the recipes the chef made at the Taste of Home School I went to a few weeks ago. I decided to use fall colored M&M's and added some candy corn, too.  Half the batch is coated with vanilla chips and the other half with peanut butter chips, then mixed together. It's crunchy, sweet and addicting!

It's a fun snack, and is perfect for fall munchies!

Check out the Halloween paper cones I made to package the mix in on my other blog, Stamping up North.

Chex PB and Chocolate Blast

6 c. rice chex
1 c. vanilla baking chips
1 c. peanut butter baking chips
1 c. M&M's
1 c. dry roasted peanuts
(I added 1 c. candy corn}
Line 2 cookie sheets with foil or waxed paper. Place 3 c. chex in a large bowl. In a small bowl, microwave the vanilla chips until melted. Pour over chex and stir to coat, pour onto baking sheet.  Refrigerate 5 minutes. Melt the peanut butter chips and mix with the other 3 c. of chex. Pour onto baking sheet. Refrigerate 5 minutes. Break into pieces and stir in the nuts and candy. Store in an air tight container.

Halloween Ice Cream Treats

Aren't these cute? I saw them in my Schwans catalogue...and had to make a few. I think this would be a fun project for a kids Halloween party. I love the salty taste of the pretzel with the ice cream.

Using a melon scoop, make small round balls of ice cream. Insert a pretzel handle and dip into sprinkles. Place on wax paper and freeze until ready to serve.
