Christmas Banana Bread
I like this recipe for alot of reasons. I guess the first one would be obvious...it just tastes SO good.
Banana bread with chocolate??? That's always a winner.
Add some nuts? Can't beat that.
But add the cherries..... and it not only adds that awesome sweet flavor, but the bright red turns it into a perfect Christmas treat.
If I have ripe bananas around the holidays, I always pull out this recipe. It turns plain banana bread into some thing special!
Christmas Bread
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c.sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/4 c. mashed bananas
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
3/4 c. chocolate chips
1/4 c. chopped maraschino cherries
Cream the butter, sugar and eggs. Add the flour, baking soda and salt. Fold in the bananas. Stir in the nuts, cherries and chocolate chips. Pour into a greased 9x5 loaf pan. (I used 2 smaller pans.) Bake at 350 for 70-80 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.

Oh... that banana bread looks good!
I love to eat Starbuck's banana bread, and yours reminds me of it. But this one looks more scrumptious!
this is my daughter's favorite recipe. We make this great bread all the time! i always double the recipe, use the smaller pans and freeze them. they make great gifts too!
Love the idea of the cherries in there! And the nuts, to me anyway, are not optional. :-)
Wow, the babanabred looks yummy. Have a great Friday.

Uhhhhh so when do you add the eggs? I just creamed the sugar and butter and then added the flour, baking soda and salt. Reading ahead, I see no mention of the eggs?!??
