Copycat Levain Bakery Chocolate Chip Cookies

I have never had the REAL Levain Chocolate Chip cookies, but they sounded so delicious I decided to try a copycat recipe. I guess people line up every day to buy them in New York. Trouble is, there are TONS of copycat recipes out there for them.

I tried this one from Delish, and thought they were great! The ratio of chocolate to cookie dough was perfect for me,and I loved the soft centers with slightly crisp edges. I didn't bake them as large as suggested in most recipes, and the centers still remained soft. I like to start off baking cookies on the bottom rack of the oven, and finish them off on the top.

I will definitely make these again, but I still have several more copycat ones on my list to try. Maybe someday I'll get to try the REAL ones!!!

Copycat Levain Bakery Chocolate Chip Cookies

2 sticks butter
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. chocolate chips

Cream the butter and sugar. Mix in eggs and vanilla and beat until mixture is glossy. In a separate bowl, mix the dry ingredients and add to the wet, stirring well. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts. Form into mounds and bake on parchment lined baking sheets at 375 for about 15 minutes until edges are browned, but still soft in the middle.
